• Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
• Payment information: billing details processed securely through our payment provider. Lumen does not store full credit card numbers.
• Content: media files you upload to the platform.
• Communications: messages you send to our support team.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, features used, streaming activity, and session duration.
• Device information: device type, operating system, browser type, and app version.
• IP address and approximate location.
• Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5).

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not scan or analyze the content of your uploaded media files beyond what is necessary to provide the service (e.g. transcoding, metadata matching).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account.
• Provide, maintain, and improve the Lumen service.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Match your uploaded content with metadata via the TMDB API.
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts).
• Serve ads to free tier users (see Section 4).
• Respond to support requests.
• Comply with legal obligations including DMCA takedown requirements.
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: We share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate Lumen, including cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), database services, email delivery (Resend), and payment processing. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
• Legal compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority.
• DMCA compliance: We may share limited account information with copyright holders as part of the DMCA takedown process.
• Business transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Advertising

Free tier users are shown ads. We work with advertising partners who may use cookies and tracking technologies to serve relevant ads. We do not share your personal media content with advertisers. You can opt out of personalized ads by upgrading to a paid plan.

5. Cookies

Lumen uses cookies and similar technologies to:

• Keep you logged in to your account.
• Remember your preferences.
• Analyze usage and improve the service.
• Serve ads to free tier users.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of Lumen.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

Uploaded media files are deleted from our servers within 30 days of account deletion or plan cancellation.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data.
• Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to certain uses of your data, including for advertising.

7.1 GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal basis for processing your data is contractual necessity (to provide the service), legitimate interests, and consent where applicable. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7.2 CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your information. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Lumen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@help.lumenstream.tv and we will delete it promptly.

10. Third Party Services

Lumen uses the following key third-party services that may process your data:

• Cloudflare R2: media storage
• TMDB API: metadata matching (no personal data shared)
• Resend: email delivery
• DigitalOcean: server infrastructure

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of your data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
